TDP and JSP Unveil Alliance's First Candidate List for Andhra Pradesh Assembly Elections

 


In a joint announcement on Saturday, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the Jana Sena Party (JSP) revealed the first list of candidates for the upcoming Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections. Out of the 99 candidates announced, 94 are from the TDP, and the remaining five belong to the JSP.


While the TDP will contest 94 seats out of the total 175 Assembly seats, the JSP will contest 24 seats, leaving 57 seats pending. The alliance is reportedly awaiting potential collaboration with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which might lead to further seat-sharing discussions in those pending seats.


Key Candidates and Distributions:

- TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu will contest from his home constituency, Kuppam.

- TDP general secretary N Lokesh Naidu is fielded in Mangalagiri.

- TDP's state unit president, K Atchan Naidu, will contest from Tekkali.

- Former Andhra Pradesh BJP chief, Kanna Lakshminarayana, will represent the party from Sattenapalle.


Strategic Seat Allocation:

- TDP: 94 seats

- JSP: 24 seats

- Pending seats: 57


The announcement, made jointly by TDP's national president N Chandrababu Naidu and JSP leader Pawan Kalyan, reflects a strategic decision to collaborate for the state's well-being.


Both leaders emphasized that they are open to discussions with the BJP if the party decides to join the alliance. Chandrababu Naidu stated that the allocation of 94 TDP candidates was based on extensive consultations using an interactive voice response system, engaging opinions from over 13.3 million people.


Pawan Kalyan stressed the alliance's goal to decentralize power for the benefit of the people of Andhra Pradesh. He stated that JSP agreed to contest only 24 seats, keeping the broader interests of the state in mind.


The leaders clarified that the seat allocation may change if the BJP comes on board, and further discussions will be held at the appropriate time. The alliance aims to prioritize the aspirations and voices of the people in their political agenda.
