Milind Deora Joins Shiv Sena, Accuses Congress of Abusing Industrialists

Former Union Minister Milind Deora has officially joined the Shiv Sena faction led by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. The 47-year-old, breaking ties with the Congress after a five-decade association, criticized the party for its current state.

Divergence from Congress Ideals

Speaking in Mumbai alongside CM Shinde, Deora expressed his disappointment, highlighting the vast difference between the Congress of his father's time in 1968 and the one he joined in 2004. He lamented that the party has shifted focus from constructive issues to opposing Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Congress' Economic Reforms Legacy

Deora pointed out the irony of the Congress, which initiated economic reforms 30 years ago, now allegedly abusing industrialists and labeling businessmen as 'anti-nationals'. He criticized the party's shift from offering suggestions for national progress to merely opposing Modi's actions.

Reasons Behind the Move

Deora's move comes as the Shiv Sena UBT faction, led by Uddhav Thackeray, claimed his stronghold, the Mumbai South seat. Despite losing to Sena's Arvind Sawant in the last two general elections, Deora expressed his commitment to "walk the path of development" with the Shiv Sena.

Focus on Progressive Politics

Emphasizing his commitment to progressive and secular politics, Deora stated that he believes in politics of development, ambition, inclusivity, and nationalism. He criticized the Congress for its focus on negative politics, personal attacks, injustice, and negativity.

Congress Allegations and Counter-Claims

The Congress alleged that Deora's move was strategically timed to divert attention from Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yatra. In response, Deora's associates claimed that he felt unsupported in Congress regarding his political future, and joining Shiv Sena provided a platform for his aspirations.

Shiv Sena's Welcome and Deora's Future

Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde welcomed Deora, stating that the emotions Deora is experiencing today are akin to what he felt over two years ago. Deora's associates highlighted the dissatisfaction within the youth Congress leaders, stating that gathering support with Rahul Gandhi is seemingly impossible.

Conclusion and Political Landscape Shift

Milind Deora's departure marks a significant shift in the political landscape, as another prominent figure leaves the Congress. The reasons behind his move shed light on internal issues within the party and a perceived lack of support for progressive politics.
